Study Medicine (MBBS) in China

Category: Medical & Life Sciences

Medicine (MBBS) in China is a six-year English-taught clinical degree: five years of coursework and hospital rotations followed by a one-year supervised internship.

Program Overview

The pre-clinical years cover anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology and pharmacology. From year three you rotate through internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology in the university’s affiliated teaching hospitals. The Ministry of Education sets one national syllabus for English-medium MBBS, so the course structure is identical at every approved university — what differs is the hospital you train in and the cost.

Why Study Medicine (MBBS) in China?

Forty-five Chinese universities are authorised by the Ministry of Education to teach MBBS in English, and their degrees appear in the World Directory of Medical Schools. From the 2026 intake every applicant must pass the CSCA entrance test, and every student must reach HSK 4 before the degree is issued — clinical rotations are conducted in Mandarin.
